Noah’s Daughter is a poetic, surreal journey through the southern coasts of Iran and the alienated heart of Tehran. A young woman has set up camp on a quiet island, immersed in the solitude and subtle beauty around her. She shares calm, intimate conversations with an older woman near the sea—discussing past, future, and the quiet art of listening to a person’s pulse with a single fingertip. A brief, intriguing dialogue about life and death with a young man adds another layer of stillness and mystery.
As night falls and Octavio Paz’s poems echo in her dreams, she wakes to find blood streaming from her ear and a strange violet light glowing from a cave by the sea. The next morning, she wakes up elsewhere on the island, disoriented but calm. After a final exchange with the woman and the boy, she gathers her things and returns to Tehran.
There, in a muted cityscape, she visits three people: a girl awaiting closure, a translator who has just completed a ten-year project, and a saxophonist yearning for her words. In each encounter, she gently feels their pulse—delivering a silent message only she seems to carry. In the final scene, she stands alone on a pedestrian bridge above a busy highway, watching the endless flow of the city.
